Updates

The following timeline of events will be regularly updated to capture key events as the proposed Materials Recycling Facility progresses through the approval process:

  • April 2012 - Preliminary Environmental Assessment including preliminary specialist reports undertaken;
  • March 2013 - Request for Director-General Requirements submitted with the Department of Planning and Environment (then Department of Planning and Infrastructure);
  • December 2013 - Director-General Requirements issued;
  • March 2014 - Site Layout Design finalised;
  • March 2014 - Environmental Property Services commenced preparation of Draft Environmental Impact Statement;
  • April 2014 - Sub-Consultants engaged to undertake the following detailed assessments:
    • Traffic Impact Assessment
    • Noise Impact Assessment
    • Cultural Heritage Impact Assessment
    • Flora and Fauna Impact Assessment
    • Cumberland Plain Woodland Assessment Report
  • July 2014 - Sub-Consultants engaged to undertake second round of detailed assessments:
    • Waste and Contamination Report
    • Soil and Water Impact Assessment
    • Greenhouse Gas Assessment
    • Air Quality and Odour Assessment
    • Fire Risk Assessment
    • Preliminary Hazard Analysis
  • August 2014 - Visual Montage and 3D visualisation of site layout finalised;
  • August 2014 - Community Consultation commenced
  • October 2014 - Community Information Open Days held at the Glenfield Waste Services site, Cambridge Avenue, Glenfield across two days (Friday 10 October and Saturday 11 October). The Community Information Open Day's were a great success with nine attendees across the two days. 
  • January 2015 - Sub-Consultants complete draft reports, and draft Environmental Impact Statement is finalised;
  • February 2015 - Complete Draft Environmental Impact Statement and detailed specialist reports are submitted for adequacy assessment;
  • March 2015 - Department of Planning and Environment, and other agencies provide comment on Draft Environmental Impact Statement and specialist reports;
  • March - July 2015 - Environmental Impact Statement and specialist reports updated to reflect agency comments, and final quality assurance process undertaken

  • February 2016 - Final Environmental Impact Statement lodged with Department of Planning and Environment
  • February 2016 - The final Environmental Impact Statement and accompanying specialist reports were placed on exhibition for public and agency comments between 17 February 2016 and 18 March 2016
  • October 2016 - Proponent is currently reviewing the submissions received during the public exhibition period and preparing a response to the Department of Planning and Environment
